First of all, what is Hevea?

We’re talking about the Hevea brasiliensis tree (a.k.a, the rubber tree) which has a type of natural resin or sap that flows from it. Unlike other types of pillows that are petroleum-based, JUVEA pillows are made 100 percent from natural Hevea tree sap (aka all-natural liquid latex). We sustainably harvest it and bring it to the factory to produce foam.

Why don’t other companies tap the hevea tree?

Well, probably because it’s a meticulous, 7-step production process. In fact, we’re the only company in North America that does it!

Hevea tree sap is expertly poured into a mold, vacuumed and flash frozen to prevent any particles from settling in the foam. Flash freezing maintains the pillow’s open cell structure, which looks like little tiny bubbles. This is what makes the pillow breathable and uniquely buoyant. With other pillows, the cell structure breaks down over time. Basically, this means that the pillow flattens!

After the foam is flash frozen, a heating process cures the latex and locks in its cell structure. Next, a five-step fresh water wash ensures that no latex proteins and other residuals remain.

Because of this 7-step process, how is the pillow priced?

The natural latex is the most expensive part of the pillow and pillow making process, so we factor this into our costs. However, we believe that if people will pay a little more for organic fruit, why not for the pillow and mattress that they sleep on every night?

Is this new?

Yes, a natural pillow is new for the pillow category, but not for the luxury bedding business. For more than 40 years, JUVEA’s parent company, Talalay Global, has been manufacturing right here in the USA in Shelton, Connecticut and selling its Talalay latex directly to mattress and furniture companies. Now, with our new JUVEA brand, we are selling directly to consumers.
